8 June – Brain Tumour Day
Merciless Headache

Brain Tumour is a terrible disease. According to medical experts, approximately 10 people per 1 lakh people die every day because of this horrendous disease. Apart from this, 500 brain tumour issues come to notice on per day basis.
If any brain tumour is not treated on right time, it can take the form of cancer and can be life threatening. Actually, in our body old and torn out cells get destroyed on a regular basis and new cells are formed on its place. This process keeps on going but when this process gets disturbed or slow down then unnecessary tissues started forming in our body. Simultaneously, old cells also do not get destroyed and in such cases tumour cells start forming and these cells form tissues which in future give rise to disease like cancer. Brain tumour is caused due to infection and loss of immunity. Tumour can be formed in any part of the brain and results in disturbance of that particular area of the brain. Tumour is of two types- Malignant tumour (dangerous) and Benign tumour (safe kind)
Malignant tumour has cancerous cells and is very much sensitive type. These grow in our brain at a very fast pace. In fact, they even spread through the spinal cord. Benign tumour is non- cancerous. They can be easily operated but tend to grow again in our body. In some cases they can even reoccur in our body and can even turn into a malignant tumour.

Radiation Therapy: In this type of treatment, the tissues are destroyed with the help of X- Rays or energy rich in protons. In this type, treatment is done via a machine called as external beam radiation and target is primarily the infected area where tumour has formed. This way treatment is done.
Radio Surgery: This procedure is named as Stereotactic Radio Surgery. In today’s era modern techniques like gamma nife like rays are used to treat the brain tumour. Furthermore, the patient is released the same day too.
Chemo therapy: This is most commonly used therapy. In this infected issues are destroyed using medicines and injections. In this infected targeted area of the patient is offered the treatment via specific drug. In this form of treatment, the adjacent areas are not affected as a result of this. This is the core speciality of this form of treatment. |
